Matilija Poppies

Paper-thin and Wrinkled, the newborn faces of Matilija poppies walcome visitors to Santa Barbara's largest public park. Built on the site of an old dump, Elings Park was once a dream in the heart of jeweler Jerry Harwin, who was brave enough to ask the Fleischmann Foundation for more than $1 million to strt the park and he got it! Origionally Las Positas Park, the non- profit and privately funded recreational paradise spans 230 acres and features two soccer fields, three baseball diamonds, hiking trails, a hill for paragliding, a bicycle racing track, al large hill-top amphitheater, a playground, picnic areas and the beautiful Veterans Memorial Walk and Terrace of Remembrance.
