Dazzling Sunset Sky
Dwarfed by a Dazzling Sunset Sky and tilted by the properties of a
wide-angle lens, the Santa Barbara Country Courthouse could easily be the castle of the king
in a well-loved fairy tale. Indeed, without any help and on any ordinary day, the courthouse
is always a regal sight, the crown jewel in the city's successful plan to preserve Spanish
influenced architecture in a Mediterranean-like setting. As fortune would have it, the courthouse
was compleated shortly after 1925 earthquake for only one and a half million dollers. A nearly
full moon completes the fantasy in this photo.
